I like this - caught in the shadows between childhood and young adulthood. No wonder he wants to take a peek first.

I think he is being punished for not knowing who Sam Cooke is.
The triangle of light with him at the apex is brilliant. I prefer to think he is playing hide and seek, than being punished.
What a good picture. While the boy hides his eyes, we get to spy on him. He'll never find us.
He appears to be praying to the ghost of Elvis...
