Hawk | Permalink

I was so lucky to encounter with this beautiful hawk today. I do know this is a hawk since the size of its body is small but what I do not know what kind hawk is it. Out of curiosity, please let me know when you familiar with this hawk.

Update: According to USeline this is a Peregrine Falcon.

You have a beautiful Peregrine Falcon there! Here is a page at the US Geological Survey website for a description: http://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/id/framlst/i3560id.html

Several decades ago, these were considered endangered, but their populations have grown, and they take advantage of tall buildings in the cities to nest and hunt now.

It's definately a Pergrine Falcon, and a stunnig photograph of one. I didn't know they were in Ohio. I rescued a Collared Dove from the claws of a juvenile Pergrine a few years ago. Just screamed at it, he dropped the Dove, who was more shaken then anyhting. Me and birds! They just act a bit wierd around me. It's a beautiful bird, and yet again a beautiful photo.

What males this particularly beautiful to me is the color and shape of the eye. With the shape of the beak, its tinge of color and the shape of the head, it looks just like an ancient Egyptian Horus.

Here's a link to the falcon cam that captures the lives of those living at the Terminal Tower - new hatchings have started to arrive!

Great photos, as always.
